Welcome to my blog!

Thanks for visiting!

I'm a mom to three amazing kids, wife to the man who swept me off my feet 12 years ago, and a child of God. I'm passionate about a lot of things, my family, my friends, my faith just to name a few ... and of course art and photography!

My goal for this place is to be a source of sneek peeks for my client's captured "moments" as well as a place to share my own as these days of parenthood fly by. I want to remember the moments that are often taken for granted in the busyness of the day to day. I find beauty and joy in taking time to freeze a moment with a picture, and even more joy in sharing it with others. Thanks for taking the time to visit. I hope you leave inspired in some way!

don’t mess with the system!

… a little inside joke from our session! I’m sworn to secrecy. It should seriously be illegal to have so much fun on the job. Susan, you are so hilarious, I love your sense of humor!  Nana and Papa were in town so Susan capitalized on their visit and made it easy by choosing her beautiful home as the backdrop.

Again, the heat this week was just about too much. But they did a great job – getting cozy – peeling themselves off of each other after each little grouping. Crazy photographer has no regard for sticky skin – all for the sake of an adorable picture! :) I think they’ll agree it was worth it all!!

Early in the session, Susan’s dad found a rose from somewhere and had a little idea of his own for a picture with his sweetheart. How cute?! I followed his lead on this one. :)

Look who snuck in … sneaky Annie.

Not everyone ‘gets’ the whole love affair with intentional sun flare in photography… but … I happen to have a love affair with sun flare – whenever I get a chance to play with it … I’ll take it. It’s tricky … and hard to control and sometimes it lands on faces … which is a bummer … but when it doesn’t and I get something like this – I get so happy. :)

And this is what you get when you ask the kids what they want to do for one last picture before the session is over … almost always … total silliness! :)

So much fun Susan! Thank you!!!

unstoppable

This family endured mosquitoes and unbelievable heat to get their session in! They were unstoppable! This little family hiked all over A. H. doing whatever I asked and they had so much love to share with each other … getting cozy was effortless, even in the heat!

I happen to love this ice cream truck … the “Caution Children” next to the family makes me laugh.

Big brother is such a handsome dude. What a sweetheart!

The little princess had the most adorable little skirt on … I just love it … she looked so feminine and ultra girlie! And this alley … I love love love this alley! I’ve shot families in downtown A.H. several times but never noticed this alley … I love the bricks and love the rusted bars, all the texture and the indirect light in here … very very cool.  ”I’ll be back.”

See? Check out all the snuggles. Everyone was kissing too!! It was so adorable and natural. I love to see my families connect so naturally and easily. It’s precious and priceless and makes me adore my job that much more.

And this little princess … in the most adorable pink skirt ever … kept hiding from the camera! And yet, look what we got … success!! If you only knew the tricks mom was pulling to get her to come out of hiding. :)

Thanks Tanya! Thanks for being troopers with the heat – your family was a joy to photograph!! Look how cute you are!! :)

jackie

So I had a ‘first’ of my own last weekend … a senior session! My husband thought I was shooting a senior citizen … until I clarified three days later. He works for an assisted living community so naturally a senior session refers to the elderly, whereas in my industry, 99% of the time a ‘senior session’ refers to the student going into their senior year getting ready to mark a major milestone with pictures.  It was funny. This beautiful girl has a long way to go before she’ll have a ‘senior citizen’ session!! She’s got her whole life ahead of her!

Anyway, without further adieu, let me introduce to you, Jackie.

Isn’t she so cute? She’s passionate about dance, she’s on poms at school and has experience with just about every style of dance as you can see by the various styles of dance shoes she uses and loves.

A little wardrobe change … and we’re off or some more! Jackie said that after she graduates, she’s going to school for forensics … she wants to do the lab work … like in CSI. Wow.

So many more coming your way Jackie! You did a fabulous job – I think your going to be very happy! Thanks for trusting me!
