Remember this offer? I had two lovely families take advantage of the chance to give back to Haiti through my mini-sessions! Here’s a peek at a few of the very cool pics we got on a rainy Saturday morning in mid-March. I LOVE the unique affect the misty drizzle gave these pictures … and the reflections off the wet sidewalks … so cool. I will never shy away from doing a photo shoot in the rain again – it’s a unique opportunity for some great great shots! You’ll notice we started indoors and then ventured outside ….

When these boys arrived, mom said, “I thought about bringing Maggie too.” I said, “Go get her! That would be awesome!” There is something special about boys with their dog. I love that she joined us. {Yes, the i’m.not.a.dog.person said that and meant it.}

Then I got the two boys and a girl crowd. The little one got a real kick out of her brothers stealing her umbrella – after all, two boys with a purple umbrella is pretty funny! I didn’t show that one here but you get the idea.

This morning really inspired me … not only that I can move all the furniture out of the tiny corner of my living room, kick my family out of the house – including the dog, for a couple of hours for a mini studio … but that the rain makes awesome pictures!!! Thanks Debbie and Kim ~ your kids were troopers!! Hope you love the results and thank you for giving to Compassion International to benefit Haiti! I know we made a difference!

So much of what has happened has brought tears and disbelief. I’ve really have not known what to do or how to help. I haven’t posted much here regarding the devastation because I really don’t know what to say. It renders me speechless. What can I do? I don’t have money, but I do have a camera. Will you help me help them? I’m joining a grass roots effort to help the people of Haiti through a couple of girls who had an idea. Photographers for Haiti is a collaboration of photographers across the United States who are pledging to donate proceeds from one day of mini sessions to help with the destruction and desperate need in Haiti. 100% of the proceeds from the session fee and 50% of any print and digital print sales will go to Compassion International. I’ve chosen this organization because I trust their use of funds and they are a faith based organization.

Here are the details:

* $35 session fee for a 20 minute session – you will write a check directly to Compassion International which makes the donation 100% deductible.

* Sessions will be held Saturday, March 13th

* Event location is to be determined but likely at my home, inside and outside {maybe a winter wonderland, cute swing in the back, park across the street, lots of options!} – my house may be tiny but I’ve got great light! I’ll push all my furniture aside and make a mini studio for some candid shots! Where there’s a will there’s a way.

* You will receive 5-10 edited images in a password protected gallery from which to order any prints or individual digital images you’re interested in at a 10% discount {a price list is available upon request}. I will give you the coupon code with your gallery link. edited to add: OR you can choose 5 images on disc for $50 plus sales tax {and shipping if you’re not in my town}. 50% of any of those proceeds from your order will be donated by me to Compassion International as well. See the session details on my website for an idea of what to expect.

Let’s make a difference together! Email me at juliekittredge{at}gmail{dot}com or use the link at the top of my blog if you’re interested in participating. It’s going to be a fun whirlwind of a day! I can’t wait to do this with you!

UPDATE: Sessions will run from 9am to 12pm. I will be scheduling sessions on the hour and half hour giving ten minutes between sessions to transition; which means there are only 7 time slots – first come first served. This is a great opportunity to get a great deal, with minimal time commitment, and give back all at once! Also, these sessions are probably best suited to just children and babies due to space constraints unless we spend some time outside for a family shoot – which can easily be done – it’s less time than a sledding outing!
