Here’s another little family who was ready to run around town with the paparazzi following! I found more nooks in the downtown A.H. area!

Happy kids … does it get better?

So here’s where creative  minds think alike. Stacy has a scrap-booking business so she obviously loves photography and needs a creative eye to enjoy that outlet. She totally saw what I saw when I made location suggestions as we walked around. Where most see a parking garage, I see a blank slate with texture and clean lines. Where most see a ratty fence lined with weeds and a dumpster just feet away, I see texture and character.  I sometimes wonder if my clients think I’m crazy when I ask them to situate in certain areas that appear to have very little aesthetic quality. I’ve never had a client refuse an idea, they always oblige and most of the ideas I have turn out smashing. Keep in mind, not every idea works out but I’m always glad we tried. Stacy saw what I saw. I would suggest something and she would say, “Yes! I love it!” I would ask if she were open to doing something risky (like sitting in the entrance to the parking garage) and she would respond with an enthusiastic Yes!  What a privilege to have the trust of my clients this way! I never want to take that for granted.

Kudos to the kids here – it was a bit stinky next to those dumpsters and they were total troopers!

These little people remind me so much of my own … three different personalities of total cuteness.

As our light dimmed we wrapped up our session with tired kids in tow and the lights flickering around us.  I love the look of shooting at dusk with the street lights and car lights moving around us.  Maybe I can get a lovely couple to do a night session with me under the street lights?! That would be fun! Anyway, if anyone needs scrapbook supplies let me know and I’ll hook you up with Stacy!

I’m super proud of this scarf and am grateful for the sense of satisfaction I have having stuck with it for the long haul … I almost quit early on because it was complicated and slow going – so glad I didn’t. Love it!

These were taken just before school started … I got to snuggle my sweet nieces and nephews. I’m in auntie heaven – seriously. I get to love ‘em and give ‘em back! Heaven!!

Aren’t they funny? You should see them … they are all so different … you can see it in these images already – sparky, chilled, and serious yet bright. Love!

She was so sweet. She would want to go somewhere (like out of the room) and I would scoot myself in front of the door (very subtly of course). She would just look at me for a minute and then turn to mom and ‘talk’ in her little sing-songy toddler voice as if asking why this crazy photographer wouldn’t let her out.  Sweet sweet sweet. And those eyes!

This is the age where, if baby wants to walk away – then mom and dad just follow, and it becomes an adorable family walk.  Magic.

And then, I’m working with the bravest mama ever who hates bugs, check out what her son found! Not to mention, the mosquitoes were immune to the bug spray we were drenching ourselves in.  It was all good fun – running from mosquitoes and dodging bugs that look like grasshoppers and then launch into what looks like a butterfly! Eew.

But on the other side of the forest was the field I had been dreaming of for a family session … and in my opinion … it was all worth it.This family did not disappoint – just look how beautiful!! These make my heart sing!!

So the whole time we’re taking these pictures … we are surrounded by deer. They were totally watching us, five on our right – four on the left – and one laying down. It never moved. Can you see it? Right in the middle? It was a little cool and a little freaky all at the same time.

I had asked Kris to bring something that we could use as props, something that would reflect what the family enjoys or where they are at in this season of life. So … baseball is huge at their house! (And golf, but this is just supposed to be a peek!) I love how personal this makes their images.
