My favorite place is in nature. I would love a little house … in the woods … with a hammock … and a front porch. And just the basics for a simple lifestyle. Maybe just enough room to invite others to stay with us comfortably. I would love that.
Until we can do that … I love love love camping. We smell like the smoky campfire when we lay our heads on the pillow in the moonlight, we wait to shower until we can’t stand the campy feeling of dirt, smoke, and stickiness … and it’s totally acceptable.I love the simplicity of spending our days outside and the community that gathers around the campfire. Each chair leaned into another, connecting over a common interest or simple conversation. This weekend I learned some things about parenting my tween – I asked questions of those who have gone before me. I watched my daughter learn to tie her shoes … and untie them … just because she wanted to practice. She’s a pro … after just one day. I watched my kids and friends kids get scuffed up from going too fast on their scooters. We shared our kayaks and meals and stories and laughter. We shared heartbreaks and victories, prayer requests and answered prayer, what we’re learning and what we’ve learned. Community and nature … put the two together and you have a very rich experience.
