So much of what has happened has brought tears and disbelief. I’ve really have not known what to do or how to help. I haven’t posted much here regarding the devastation because I really don’t know what to say. It renders me speechless. What can I do? I don’t have money, but I do have a camera. Will you help me help them? I’m joining a grass roots effort to help the people of Haiti through a couple of girls who had an idea. Photographers for Haiti is a collaboration of photographers across the United States who are pledging to donate proceeds from one day of mini sessions to help with the destruction and desperate need in Haiti. 100% of the proceeds from the session fee and 50% of any print and digital print sales will go to Compassion International. I’ve chosen this organization because I trust their use of funds and they are a faith based organization.
Here are the details:
* $35 session fee for a 20 minute session – you will write a check directly to Compassion International which makes the donation 100% deductible.
* Sessions will be held Saturday, March 13th
* Event location is to be determined but likely at my home, inside and outside {maybe a winter wonderland, cute swing in the back, park across the street, lots of options!} – my house may be tiny but I’ve got great light! I’ll push all my furniture aside and make a mini studio for some candid shots! Where there’s a will there’s a way.
* You will receive 5-10 edited images in a password protected gallery from which to order any prints or individual digital images you’re interested in at a 10% discount {a price list is available upon request}. I will give you the coupon code with your gallery link. edited to add: OR you can choose 5 images on disc for $50 plus sales tax {and shipping if you’re not in my town}. 50% of any of those proceeds from your order will be donated by me to Compassion International as well. See the session details on my website for an idea of what to expect.
Let’s make a difference together! Email me at juliekittredge{at}gmail{dot}com or use the link at the top of my blog if you’re interested in participating. It’s going to be a fun whirlwind of a day! I can’t wait to do this with you!
UPDATE: Sessions will run from 9am to 12pm. I will be scheduling sessions on the hour and half hour giving ten minutes between sessions to transition; which means there are only 7 time slots – first come first served. This is a great opportunity to get a great deal, with minimal time commitment, and give back all at once! Also, these sessions are probably best suited to just children and babies due to space constraints unless we spend some time outside for a family shoot – which can easily be done – it’s less time than a sledding outing!
