my favorite lunch ever

McDonalds …

That’s not entirely true. I think McDonald’s is disgusting. But … my kids love it and today was my first date with Hunter … just the two of us. I have Kiana in a Mom’s Day Out program once a week from 9:30-1:20 so I can get caught up on all the book-keeping for the two business and our personal life. With my new freedom, I’ve also decided to take the boys’ out for lunch once a month … but just one on on, this month it was Hunter’s turn. He told me this morning he was going to decide if he wanted to keep doing it after today’s lunch because he wasn’t sure it was worth missing recess for. SO … of course … I wanted to make absolutely sure he would want to come again. I picked him up from school, let him choose where he wanted to go for lunch, and told him he could get whatever he wanted (I’m only paying for one kid instead of three! This is the one time I can spoil him … otherwise … with all three … it’s the dollar menu only!). I had a blast just listening to him talk. I want so badly to build the trust relationship with him now so when he’s older (like in three years) and in middle school … maybe … just maybe … he’ll still want to talk to me once in a while. I’m excited about having lunch with my kids one-on-one. I think it’s going to be my favorite lunch of the month. I think I’m growing into this mommy thing … big kids are really a lot of fun … and funny! At one point in our convesation I was eating my fries and dipping in his ketsup.

Hunter: You know I double dipped in that.

Me: Yeah, I know

Hunter: You don’t care do you.

Me: Nope.

Hunter: That’s okay, we have the same germs anyway. Actually, you have Payne germs, I don’t have that … I’ve always been a Kittredge … well, and nothing. You’ve been nothing, a Payne, and a Kittredge!

I thought that was hilarious. I have one extra set of germs. I remember thinking like that as a kid. I’m really going to enjoy my big kids I think … motherhood just got better.

Next month … Aidan and McDonalds, and another.dumb.plastic.toy.that.I.will.kick.around.the.living.room.until.I’m.sick.of.kicking.it.and.it.will.go.in.the.garbage.like.the.rest.of.them. but it will be worth every penny.
